SOUTHERN PINES, NC – American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) announced Friday that the Moore County Chamber of Commerce is a finalist for the prestigious Chamber of the Year Award. The Moore County Chamber is one of three finalists in its category and one of nine total finalists nationwide.
“Our feet haven’t touched the ground yet,” said Patrick Coughlin, CCE, President & CEO of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce. Coughlin credits the dedication of the board, volunteers and Chamber team for the recognition. “There are a lot of people who have worked very hard. We are absolutely ecstatic.”
The Chamber was notified in early May that it qualified for the recognition. Through an annual operations survey ACCE looks at results and the policies and procedures a chamber employs to achieve those results. The Moore County Chamber is the only chamber in North Carolina to be named a finalist.
The Chamber will interview with a panel on July 29, 2009 at the ACCE annual convention. The winners will be announced on July 31, 2009 at the ACCE Annual Banquet. The convention is being held in Raleigh, NC this year.
“Achieving this level of recognition is thrilling for everyone on the team,” Coughlin said. “Being recognized during the convention in our own back yard is even more special.”
The mission of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce is to provide quality, value-added services and programs to members to unite Moore County area businesses in a committed effort to strengthen the economic environment and thus, improve the quality of life for all of Moore County. With nearly 800 members the Chamber is instrumental in Promoting Commerce and Lifestyle and exists to help strengthen the local economy and to promote and preserve quality of life.
