Dear Friends -
On Thursday, March 25, I'm putting your name on a barstool! I'll be your personal bartender, slinging beers, swirling soda and telling tall tales as I serve as a Celebrity Bartender for a couple of my favorite charities at Pinehurst's new Ryder Cup Lounge in the Carolina Hotel. All cash and check tips collected at the bar will go straight to the United Way and Communities in Schools. The services and programs provided by both organizations have greatly impacted the communities within Moore County, and with continued support and generosity from businesses and citizens alike, will continue to do so for a long time to come. Together with my fellow bartenders, we plan to have a great time for our own Cheers moment. We'll be there from 5:30pm to 7pm, and there may be a few surprises up our sleeves. We have a friendly game between the three of us to see who can garner the most tips - won't you help me shut them down? As you will see below, Pinehurst is offering drink specials all night long on March 25, and entrees are buy one, get one free every Thursday in March to celebrate their opening. See pertinent information below. No reservations are needed! Just show up and drink a pint with me. Thanks! Linda Pearson

The Voice of Moore County, a new online source for news, entertainment and information about Moore County and beyond, is pleased to offer a new service to local businesses and individuals — classifieds. As a service to Chamber members, the Voice of Moore County is offering classified listings for $25 until the position is filled, or until the item is sold. Our goal in providing this service is to provide local businesses with ample space, 500 words, to advertise their job openings giving a potential employee a better feel for the job they're applying for, while also giving you, the employer, a chance to state exactly what you're looking for. The same applies to those trying to sell a car, furniture, etc. For just $25, you have 500 words to sell what is you need to get rid of until it's sold. In this fast paced world and unstable economy, we felt this was a good way to help everyone. If you would like to place a classified ad with the Voice of Moore County, please call Eren Tataragasi at 919-810-4305 or please e-mail her at etataragasi@vomc.com. We also have traditional advertising opportunities for those interested. With various types of ads available at ridiculously low rates, you can get your company the exposure you need. Call Eren today to find out about ad rates and visit www.vomc.com to see what stories we're covering today.

By popular demand, the Arts Council of Moore County will once again present Art Anonymous, the FUNdraising event that has a secret people are still talking about. In order for this event to be successful, we are calling all artists to do what you do best…create art. The Arts Council of Moore County (ACMC) is asking all artists (ages 16+) to create and donate a secret “mini-masterpiece” which will be for sale to art lovers at the June, 2010 event. The identity of the artist will be revealed once their artwork is sold. Proceeds from the sale will benefit ACMC’s arts programs. To participate, ACMC will provide you with 5”x7” postcards—as many as you need—on which you can create or attach your original art. Your anonymous work will be on display and sold for $50 a piece at our exhibit on June 4-30, 2010. All artists’ identities will remain concealed until the work is sold. You may work in any 2-D media but DO NOT sign the front of your work, as there is space on the back of each card for your signature. Then simply return your work to us by May 3, 2010 (or earlier). New for this year’s Art Anonymous and in keeping with ACMC’s mission to promote original, we have asked North Carolina artist William Mangum to choose his favorite 20-25 Art Anonymous artists based solely on the donations. The artists he chooses will be invited to exhibit in a special feature show at Campbell House Galleries in June, 2011. So, give us your best mini-masterpiece! Because of the huge crowd at last year’s opening, we are also offering a special, limited-attendance Preview Party for Art Anonymous on Thursday, June 3. More information on the Preview Party will be available soon, but this will give you first choice of all the wonderful Art Anonymous artwork before the exhibit opening on Friday, June 4. In addition, the following frame shops in Moore County have agreed to offer 20% off framing for any Art Anonymous artwork purchased during the event: Framer’s Cottage (162 NW Broad St. in Southern Pines), Framesmith (170 N. Bennett St. in Southern Pines), The King’s Custom Framing (Pinehurst Hardware Bldg., Ste. 3 in Pinehurst), and A Southern Studio (275A NE Broad St. in Southern Pines). To receive your Art Anonymous art packet, containing postcard(s) and guidelines for creating and donating your mini masterpiece, stop by ACMC’s offices at Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines) or call 910-692-ARTS (2787). Participating artists will be listed on our website and in promotional and marketing materials for Art Anonymous. And because we value your talent as an artist, we will be happy to provide a tax receipt for your donation. Art Anonymous will be on exhibit Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 4-30 and on Saturday, June 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. For additional information, call 910-692-ARTS (2787) or visit www.mooreart.org.
